2024 WNBA Draft: Catlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is currently ranked #1 in women's college basketball. In Iowa's last regular-season game, she finished with 3,951 points, making her the all-time career scoring leader (men's or women's). After being the no.1 pick in the WNBA Draft, Clark is presently representing the Indiana Fever professionally with her talents. 

Women's basketball has been touched by Clark in a variety of ways. Increasing the amount of people who watch women's basketball overall is one of her most remarkable achievements. So many young ladies have been motivated to play basketball by Clark. Compared to most female players, Clark plays the game very differently. Though she is well-known for her frequent logo 3-pointers, she is capable of more. She is an excellent floor leader who can distribute the court and pass efficiently and with ease. 

 Emily Dozier shared in TheSportingNews.com, that Clark has broken the following NCAA records: career scoring leader, 3-point record for a single season, first player in NCAA tournament history to record multiple 40-point games, and most 30-point games by a male or female in Division in the previous 25 years Breaking down the Iowa superstar's record-breaking NCAA career | Sporting News. She has broken many more records at Iowa University in addition to those set by the NCAA. She has also been awarded of numerous honors. At Iowa University, Clark's jersey was retired in honor of all the success she has done at the University.

Many refer to her influence on women's basketball as the "Clark effect." For instance, 14.2 million people watched the Iowa vs. UCONN women's final four match. Making this the largest audience in the history of NCAA women's basketball. Clark also sold out 30 of the 32 games that were played during the regular season. 

Clark still has a long way to go in her professional career, but she has come a long way. She increased interest in and attendance at women's college basketball and has broken multiple NCAA and Iowa University records.

    Before I met my girlfriend, who loves basketball and Caitlin Clark, I had no idea who Clark was, as I don't really follow sports. Now that I have seen her play during the past season, she truly is incredible. I think there will be many times watching Indiana Fever games in my future and it'll be great to see how much more of an amazing player Clark can be.

2024 WNBA Draft: Angel Reese

One of the most influential athletes in women's basketball is Angel Reese. Reese is an honored All- American and is ranked number two player in her class by ESPN. She also has been a great role model for young girls who have been looking up to her.  As the 2020 class's top player overall, Angel Reese was awarded a McDonald's All-American. In each game, she averaged 18 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 assists. This was only the start of her incredible professional achievement to come. Following her seasons as a junior and senior, she was selected for the USA Today First Team. In 2020-21, Reese committed to Maryland and later transferred to LSU year of 2022.  Reese led the Tigers to tremendous success when she arrived at LSU.
