2024 WNBA Draft: Angel Reese

One of the most influential athletes in women's basketball is Angel Reese. Reese is an honored All- American and is ranked number two player in her class by ESPN. She also has been a great role model for young girls who have been looking up to her.

As the 2020 class's top player overall, Angel Reese was awarded a McDonald's All-American. In each game, she averaged 18 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 assists. This was only the start of her incredible professional achievement to come. Following her seasons as a junior and senior, she was selected for the USA Today First Team. In 2020-21, Reese committed to Maryland and later transferred to LSU year of 2022.

Reese led the Tigers to tremendous success when she arrived at LSU. She began establishing records, performing consistently and forcefully, and gained recognition as the Bayou Barbie. Her brand took off on Instagram after she arrived at LSU with just over 70,000 followers. By the time she entered the NCAA Tournament, she had almost half a million followers. After winning the National Championship not long after, it rose to more over a million.

Reese had to deal with cruel remarks and abuse on social media from individuals all around the world. She was painted as an unpleasant, unfair-playing black athlete. Early in the season, Angel Reese missed a few of games due to personal leave. Because of this, the media began to assume things about her, which made Reese suffer.

In her last season at LSU, Angel Reese was inspired by this and managed to lead her team to the Elite Eight. She tied the NCAA Tournament record with her 10th consecutive March Madness double-double after earning a double-double in each of the four NCAA Tournament games.                                                                                                                        Image from: AthlonSports.com

  1. Good information on Reese. I feel like you have lots of information here that should be attributed to a source, though. How do you know that information about her number of followers, for example? And don't forget to ADD VALUE. What you are provided that readers couldn't find easily enough on their own? And for your source attribution in the final paragraph, you need more. You should not do a blanket "according to X"--instead, give more specific page, date, author information if possible. Also, because it is an online source, link to it. For your image, if you select the image and click the drop-down next to the image button on the toolbar, you can select toggle caption and create a caption for your image (rather than creating it separately).
